TaxClassRoom.com offers web-based interactive distance learning courses that satisfy a variety of IRS CE credits including the IRS Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP) CE credits. You can choose from our course catalog the courses that satisfy either of the Federal Tax Law, Ethics, and Tax Law Updates. TaxClassRoom.com offers enough credit hours to satisfy IRS 2016 AFSP 18 Hour CE requirements for most tax preparers.
The Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP) is a voluntary program that is primarily directed at preparers who are not licensed as attorneys, CPAs or enrolled agents.
The Annual Filing Season Program will allow unenrolled return preparers to obtain a record of completion when they voluntarily complete a required amount of continuing education (CE), including a course in basic tax filing issues and updates, ethics and other federal tax law courses.
To complete the Annual Filing Season Program requirements each year non-exempt return preparers must:
• Have a valid PTIN
• Complete a 6 credit Annual Federal Tax Refresher (AFTR) course
• Pass a 100-question comprehension test by 70% or better
• Complete 10 CE hours of federal tax law topics
• Complete 2 CE hours of ethics
Total 18 CE hours required for non-exempt return preparers
To complete the Annual Filing Season Program requirements each year exempt return preparers, such as EAs, CPAs, attorneys, ERPAs, IRS-based return preparer programs, and certain state-based return preparer program participants must:
• Have a valid PTIN
• Complete 10 CE hours of Federal Tax Law Topics
• Complete 3 CE hours of Tax Law Updates
• Complete 2 CE hours of Ethics
Total 15 CE hours required for exempt return preparers
Here’s how it works:
First you must create an account by clicking register at the top left of the TaxClassRoom.com website. After registering, you can login to the TaxClassRoom.com website and choose courses from course catalog based on the required number of CE credit hours you need to complete. Each course has visual presentations of required readings and review questions. Once you’ve completed the course and review questions, you will then have a course quiz to complete to test your knowledge of the course material. To obtain the course CE credit hours, you must have a passing score of at least 70% on the course quiz. Your certificate of completion will be issued after completing all requirements and your course completion. Also after successfully completing all requirements for the course or program, your quiz results will be submitted the IRS with appropriate CE credit hours within 10 days.
